Month of the Military Child

Apr 1, 2017

April is the Month of the Military Child! This month, take the opportunity to recognize military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices, and continued resilience.

The Patriots Initiative’s Directory represents a comprehensive list of the charitable organizations identified for doing the best work in their area of focus and expertise, and several nonprofits listed in the Directory focus on assisting and supporting military children.

One Directory organization in particular, Military Child Education Coalition, has set up “Operation Educate the Educators” during the month of the military child to help educators better meet the social, emotional, and learning needs of children whose parents serve our country.

One of the recent additions to TPI’s Directory, Paws’itive Teams, currently has a service dog, Rocky, ready to be matched. Paws’itive Teams has been making a difference by training dogs as companions for people with a variety of disabilities since 1999. They are now looking for applicants to put Rocky’s training skills to good use. Prospective applicants must be retired service members residing in San Diego County with a mobility-limited disability. For additional information and how to apply, click here.

The last shout out goes to The Patriots Initiative’s Directory member America’s VetDogs. America’s VetDogs is hosting their 7th Annual Annapolis/Kent Island run and dog walk on Sunday, April 23rd. Participants can sign up for the 5K or 10K run or choose to take on the 2-mile walk. If you can’t make the trip to Maryland, you can help by setting up your own virtual event. America’s VetDogs relies on donations made to help place specially trained dogs with those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. These dogs allow injured veterans and first responders to live without boundaries.
